We were legally and lawfully wed on June 28, 2014

» About us

Nicki and I met online through Christian Mingle. She was living in Burlington and I was living in Reidsville at the time. Both of us used that web site because we were looking for the right person based on God's direction.

Nicki comes from a large family with a sister, a half brother, and a total of four step sisters. I have 2 brothers who are both married with children and I have a son. Family ties are important to both of us as is our faith in God. We are excited about what the future holds for us as we start our lives together.

How we got started

She sent me a "smile" through the dating web site in May 2014, but we did not actually exchange emails until June. After the introductions in email it took me about 3 weeks before I actually asked her out on a date (She reminds me of this often). Our first date was on July 5, 2013 at Carrabbas on High Point Road in Greensboro. The most notable thing about that night (outside of Nicki not eating the food she ordered) was that we talked non-stop for 3.5 hours. I joked that we were closing the place down because the restaurant was almost empty when we left.

Nicki would say that I didn't text her back right away the next morning. I guess that's true, but it wasn't because I had doubts. The truth is that I was so excited I didn't want to give her the impression that I was one of those crazy stalker type people.

After that first date we jumped in with both feet. We were instant best friends. We went ice skating, zip-lining, white water rafting, and had all sorts of adventures together. Looking back I don't think the activity was the important part so much as we just were doing stuff together... and loving every minute.

It took all of about six months for me to know that Nicki was the one for me. I proposed to her on January 11, 2014... and she said YES!
